Was travelling from Oslo S (Grefsen rather) to Nittedal. As it was the last day of my ticket to zone 2vø. Picturesque scenes everywhere. I really should have gotten my camera instead of my phone one, but it is better than nothing.

Gay Pride in Oslo

Oslo’s Gay Pride Parade, supposedly attended by close to 12,000 people is an interesting one. It is my first time attending such a parade as I come from a country not very well known for its open acceptance to the LGBT lifestyle and community, although things seem to be improving. But this was a fun parade and a family affair, and to a certain extent, a bit of a cultural adjustment for me. I like the fact that it is stressed that hetrosexuals and homosexuals could live together peacefully and stand on equal footing without being embarassed or having animosity between each other.

I think everyone enjoyed themselves, especially the parade participants. Here are some pictures and comments of the parade, taken near Karl Johans Gate. Enjoy.

Parade is starting and traffic is literally stopped by traffic police. Busus and trams were halted for the parade to pass through.

These group of sailors in pink stockings, pom poms and hats look interesting.

Jolly men with bananas entertaining the crowd, they were quite funny and everyone was laughing away.

Nice blue jeep.

Even the nurses joined in.  I was surprised to see LGBT people in the army and navy over here. Something that probably will raise a big hoo haa in some other countries.

This is probably my favorite photo. “All Different, All Equal. Love is a Human Right”.

I like this red rainbow truck!! :).

And then the mood shifts to something a bit sombre. People representing each of these countries walked down with their mouths gagged. Probably signifying loss of freedom to express how to love in these places.

The queer group. Quite interesting.
